半邊小臉症（Hemifacial microsomia）在過去缺乏人工顳顎關節重建技術的年代，往往只能在有限的手術選項中尋求改善，使得治療效果與功能重建都受到相當大的侷限。
這次受邀前往越南河內進行學術報告與手術示範，從術前評估、手術設計到跨團隊協調，我們歷經超過半年的準備期，並透過多次跨國線上會議與討論，才得以順利完成這次的臨床與教學整合。
在此次交流中，我也系統性地介紹顳顎關節疾病的保守治療策略，並在現場向多位優秀的整形外科與口腔顎面外科專家，示範「全人工顳顎關節置換（Total TMJ Replacement）合併正顎手術」的完整治療流程，包含手術設計邏輯、咬合重建策略與顏面對稱性的整體規劃。
我相信，真正有價值的國際醫療交流，不只是完成一台手術，而是讓一套治療觀念與技術架構能被理解、被複製，並逐漸在當地落地生根。
也期盼透過這次課程與手術示範，這項針對半邊小臉症與顳顎關節重建的整合性治療方式，能在河內持續發展，造福更多需要進階顏面重建的患者。
Hemifacial microsomia patients have historically faced significant limitations in surgical management, particularly in the era before the availability of artificial temporomandibular joint reconstruction, where treatment options were often constrained and functionally compromised.
Following an invitation to Hanoi, Vietnam for both academic presentation and live surgical demonstration, our team undertook more than six months of multidisciplinary preparation. This included detailed surgical planning, iterative case discussions, and multiple cross-border virtual meetings to ensure both technical precision and educational clarity.
During this visit, I also had the opportunity to present conservative management strategies for temporomandibular joint disorders and to demonstrate a comprehensive surgical protocol of Total Temporomandibular Joint Replacement combined with Orthognathic Surgery. The demonstration was performed in front of distinguished colleagues in plastic surgery and oral and maxillofacial surgery, focusing on treatment sequencing, occlusal reconstruction, and overall facial symmetry planning.
I firmly believe that the true value of international surgical exchange lies not only in performing complex procedures, but in transferring a reproducible clinical framework that can be understood, adopted, and sustained locally.
Through this workshop and surgical demonstration, I sincerely hope that this integrated approach to hemifacial microsomia and TMJ reconstruction will continue to develop in Hanoi and benefit more patients in need of advanced craniofacial reconstruction.many outstanding plastic surgeons and oral and maxillofacial surgeons. I believe that through this course and surgical demonstration, this procedure will now take root in Hanoi.
