As time transitions into August, the juncture between summer and autumn, I returned to South India upon invitation.
Keeping a promise is worth a thousand gold pieces—after all, it was through the cleft lip and palate charity surgeries last year that I met many Indian doctors, and I had also served as the keynote speaker for the launch event of this academic conference back then.
Returning to India this time coincides with the rainy season. In South Indian legend, there is a rain goddess named Mariamman, who heals diseases through the falling rain—I suppose it is because rain brings nutrients to the earth, allowing it to be reborn.
On the journey of life, we all undergo one baptism after another at different stages, enabling us to regain our strength, leave the pain behind, and continue moving forward.
