Scudder Memorial Hospital在我學生時期的其中一個暑假佔據了我幾乎所有的時間，我跟著前輩一字一句的做完了一整個的扶輪社國際基金的計劃案，援助了醫院一台救護車，前輩甚至還搭建了整個牙科的設立。當年的我不知道原來這間醫院在當時只剩下4位醫生，醫院像個鬼城幾乎要關門，透過許多計劃的援助，這間醫院現在發展成了60人的慈善醫院，堅持下去就因為他是印度第一座由醫療宣教士開設的醫院還有病人需要幫助。經過好幾年，Dr. Sam來了台北當我的同學，我告訴他在台北才能學到全世界最好的唇腭裂及顱顏手術，他也順利地來了，可惜當時我在巴基斯坦進修腭瘻管修復及義診。但這件事情我一直擺在心上，這次來了醫院進行了為期兩天的手術義診交流，離開時我把我自己用的正顎電鋸跟鋸片都留了下來，也確認了我們所學的在印度生根而且會逐漸精進，他的事情其實一直在我心裡轉眼間就過了好幾個春夏秋冬。
During one of my summer vacations as a student, almost all of my time was spent at drafting the charity purposal for Scudder Memorial Hospital. I followed my senior mentor word by word in drafting a complete Rotary International Foundation project, which resulted in donating an ambulance to the hospital. My mentor even helped establish the entire dental department there.
At that time, I didn’t realize that the hospital only had four doctors left, and it was like a ghost town on the verge of shutting down. Through the support of many projects, the hospital has since developed into a 60-member charitable hospital. They persevered because it was the first hospital in India founded by medical missionaries, and because patients were still in need of help.
Years later, Dr. Sam came to Taipei as my classmate. I told him that in Taipei, he could learn the best cleft and craniofacial surgeries in the world, and he managed to come. Unfortunately, I was in Pakistan then, doing advanced training in palatal fistula repair and participating in free clinics. But this matter stayed in my heart.
This time, I came back to the hospital for a two-day surgical charity exchange. Before leaving, I left behind my own orthognathic saw and hand pieces , ensuring that what we have learned could take root in India and continue to progress. Carrying this in my heart, many springs, summers, autumns, and winters have passed in the blink of an eye.
